Immune adherence hemagglutination test as a new sensitive method for titration of animal virus antigens and antibodies.

چکیده
It was confirmed that the immune adherence hemagglutination (IAHA) test might be useful for the measurement of antigens and antibodies of some animal viruses. A suitable procedure of IAHA for the titration of animal virus and corresponding antibody was determined. No positive reaction of IAHA could be seen with any kind of primate erythrocytes except for human erythrocytes, and the guinea pig complement was proved to be the only source of complement suited for the positive IAHA reaction of animal virus and antibody. Several kinds of animal viruses including herpes simplex virus, 5V40, adenoand enteroviruses were examined by the IAHA method for its practical application. It was substantiated that this new method was 10 to 100 times as sensitive as the usual complement fixation test as regards both viral antigen and antibody titers. A few demerits of IAHA technique were also discussed.

Detection of antibodies to Epstein-Barr virus capsid antigen by immune adherence hemagglutination.
The immune adherence hemagglutination assay was found to be as sensitive and specific as the indirect immunofluorescence technique for titration of antibodies to Epstein-Barr virus capsid antigen. Satisfactory virus capsid antigen-specific and negative control antigens for the immune adherence hemagglutination assay were prepared from cell extracts of the Epstein-Barr virus producer P3HR-1 and ...
متن کاملQuantitation of antibodies to varicella-zoster virus by immune adherence hemagglutination.
Immune adherence hemagglutination was compared with the complement fixation test as a means of measuring antibodies to varicella-zoster virus. Analysis of acute- and convalescent-phase sera from patients infected with varicella-zoster or with herpes simplex virus showed the immune adherence hemagglutination test to be more sensitive than the complement fixation test, and greater cross-reactivit...
متن کاملA Sensitive Neutralization Assay for Influenza C Viruses Based on the Acetylesterase Activity HEF Glycoprotein
Influenza C virus possesses specific neuraminate-O-acetylesterase as a receptor-destroying function. This enzymatic activity of the viral glycoprotein HEF (Hemagglutinin, esterase activity and fusion factor) can be visualized in situ by the use of distinct color substrates. Hereby the localization, as well as the quantity of synthesized HEF protein is detectable. We further developed the estera...
متن کاملQuantitative estimation of infantile gastroenteritis virus antigens in stools by immune adherence hemagglutination test.
Infantile gastroenteritis virus antigens in stools were titrated by the immune adherence hemagglutination test. A good correlation was observed between immune adherence hemagglutination titers and electron microscope counts.
متن کاملImmune adherence hemagglutination: alternative to complement-fixation serology.
Immune adherence hemagglutination (IAHA) was compared to complement fixation (CF), using standard procedures, for serological testing of human sera with a number of commercially available antigens. The antigens included herpes simplex, measles, cytomegalo-, and influenza (type B) viruses, as well as Mycoplasma pneumoniae and Chlamydia psittaci (Chlamydia group). The IAHA test was found to be as...
